Welcome to Lake Country Antique Tractor Association

Who we are...

The Lake Country Antique Tractor Association officially began in January 2000, when six families met to discuss the formation of a club. At that time there were about eight or nine antique tractors among the group. The first order of business was to develop a mission, rules and by-laws. The mission is to preserve and promote the preservation of farm machinery of the past for future generations. Membership now consists of over 120 families, and the club pays insurance on 130 individual members who will or may drive in parades and participate in shows. At a recent business meeting, members reported a total of over 200 antique tractors that were restored or in the process.

Club Meetings

The Lake Country Antique Tractor Association has a business meeting the first Monday evening of February, April, June, August, October and December. These meetings are now held at The Parades Family Restaurant 304 W Broad St, Mineola, TX 75773 at 6pm for dinner and 7pm for the business meeting. A play day may be held during the even numbered months to give members an opportunity to plow and work the tractors or have a tractor pull to see how well the tractors can be tuned to their most powerful--if twelve horsepower or a bit more is powerful.

What's an Antique Tractor?

Tractors that are built before 1972 are considered to be an antique tractor by our club. Tractors 30 years old or older are considered an antique by EDGETA, of which we are local branch 145. At this time the oldest running tractors in LCATA are a 1924 McCormick- Deering, a 1925 Fordson & a 1930 McCormick-Deering. Antique tractors of all kinds are owned by our members including John Deere, Farmall, International, Massey Harris, Massey Ferguson, Ford, Allis Chalmers, McCormick-Deering, Moline and Oliver. We also fund a college scholarship program each year for deserving area youth.

LAKE COUNTRY ANTIQUE TRACTOR ASSOCIATION

To encourage the safest conditions possible for visitors and members, this association will set forth operating, procedural and conduct rules to be strictly observed by all members, all guests, all visitors and any other persons while participating in club activities. These rules are subject to amendment according to bylaws procedure and are as follows:

1. Be courteous and friendly to the people who come to our show. Make these visitors feel that we appreciate they came. Without them, we wouldn't have a show.

2. Pedestrians have the right of way.

3. All machinery is to be operated only by those responsible and delegated to do so.

4. Refuel only when the engine is shut down and cool. Keep fuel containers closed and store away from running equipment.

5. Provide a fire extinguisher or know where the nearest one is located.

6. All tractors are to be operated in lower gears at all times.

7. Don't tailgate--do not follow closely behind other tractors or vehicles.

8. NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES MAY BE CONSUMED AT ANY TIME WHILE PARTICIPATING IN ASSOCIATION ACTIVITIES.

Common Sense Rules:

1. Recognize the need for safety rules--be cooperative.

2. Do not make any adjustments while equipment is moving or operating. No part of our show is so important that we can't wait for adjustments to be done safely.

3. Block the wheels if there is any danger of undesirable moving or rolling of the tractor.

4. Be sure gear shift lever is in neutral before starting the engine.

5. Never engage clutch unless you are in a position to disengage quickly if necessary.

6. Drive at speeds slow enough to ensure your safety.

7. Do not use a broken or frayed cable to move equipment. Do not stand "in line' with cable under tension. Use chains wherever possible.

We must always keep safety the highest priority of our show.
