                      LAKE COUNTRY ANTIQUE TRACTOR ASSOCIATION

EDGETA BRANCH 145

December 7, 2015 Minutes

President Davis called the meeting to order at 6:58 with 21 members in attendance. Joe Bob Busby opened the meeting with prayer. John Aufdenkamp was a visitor from the Lone Star Garden Tractor Pullers Association.

Don Sullivan and Clarence Lee reported that their wives were feeling better after lengthy illnesses. We were saddened to learn of the passing of Casey Willis’ father, Don.

The secretary’s minutes were approved as written. The treasurer’s report indicated a bank balance of $6,006.36. The financial report was approved as presented.

Ron reported that the club’s 501 (C) (3) status has been received. It was issued on October 21, 2015. Since we give scholarships, we qualified for the C 3 status. The cost for obtaining this was: $400 to the IRS and $100 to the CPA (Laurie Kindle). We will have to file an IRS form each year and the CPA will do this for us. We have been trying to get this done for several years and Ron deserves much praise for completing the job!

Morris Krodle was the only member of the Nomination Committee present at our meeting. It was decided that we will keep the same officers for 2016. They are: President – Ron Davis, Vice President – Bruce Burnham, Treasurer – Brenda Wisdom, and Secretary – Sally Smith.

John A. from the Lone Star Garden Tractor Pullers made a presentation. They are looking for more exposure for their club. They would like to put on a show with their garden tractors and sled at one or two of our pulls. They would like to put on one of their pulls and be followed by us. They also have their own insurance. John told us that Wade Bartley is planning on having his Help a Child event at the Sulphur Springs Civic Center in 2016. The show will be like the one this year – we will pull first and the Lone Star Garden Tractor Pullers will pull that night. We think the date will be either October 8th or 15th. Several of our members expressed an interest in having a joint pull.

Ron told us that he had been in touch with representatives from the Emory Day Founder’ Committee. They are talking about us doing a pull on the evening of May 6th after activities have been completed downtown. They told Ron that restroom facilities are being built and bleachers have been purchased. A special day for older farmers of Rains County is being planned for some time in June. They are planning on having a plow day, tractor display, and a pull. They want us to participate in this. We will get more information later on.

Alexander Tractors in Winnsboro has told some of our members that they want to keep their advertisement on our sled. Mrs. Alexander says that they will continue to contribute to the club.

Morris Krodle brought up the idea of having tractor shows, plow days, and trail rides to stir up some interest in our members who do not participate in pulls. Ron told us that we need to think about some events to sponsor in the upcoming year that will generate more interest from our members.

As is our custom, we took up a Christmas offering to be given to a local charity. Our members contributed $168. Lynn Secules made the motion to raise the amount to $200 and donate it to the East Texas Food Bank. Paul Barnett made the second and the motion passed.

The meeting was adjourned at 8PM.

Respectfully submitted,

Sally Smith
