APRIL 3, 2023 MINUTES
President Don Hatton called the meeting to order at 7PM with nineteen in attendance. Health concerns were: Roy Wisdom’s back is better, Ron Davis is taking chemo now, and Patsy Hatton is having stomach problems but is better. One of our members, Willie Jaymes, passed away recently. Joe Bob Busby opened the meeting with prayer.
Minutes from February were passed out to members and approved as written. Copies of the treasurer’s report were distributed and approved as presented.
If anyone has not paid their dues, they must be paid now.
We will not have a pull in Greenville this year.
Scholarship applications were due on April 1st. At present, we have eight. Four scholarships will be awarded this year. We will wait a few days until we decide on the ones to receive the scholarships in case some others come in.
The Canton Swap Meet is this weekend. Our stalls are 4234 through 4243. If a participant is planning on selling anything at the show, he will have to pay a fee of $30. There will be security at the grounds. A parade will take place on Saturday. There will also be a live auction. A DPS officer will be at the show to educate us on how to secure a tractor on a trailer at 11AM on Saturday. Tractors can be brought in on Thursday. There will be equipment from the collection of Willie Jaymes, our member who passed away, for sale at the show.
The Athens pull at the Cowboy Church is coming up on April 15. Steve Williams has updated our sled to help maintain the track. Lawnmowers will also pull at the same time as the tractors. The Church is planning on two to three thousand spectators. It is very important that we stress safety at this pull. V8’s will be pulling along with faster antiques.
Don Hatton and Marcus Echart had been working on a plan for a tractor display at the Old Fiddler’s Reunion in Athens for this year. Mr. Echart passed away and the person replacing him wants to charge $30 per tractor to display. This is a money making event for the Masonic Lodge of Henderson County. Don has suggested that we pay $30 for the club to display its tractors. It is hoped that this will promote our club and, possibly, get new members.
We had two guests at our meeting – Gus and Scott Young. They have approached Don about doing a tractor pull in Mineola at the new ATV-UTV park near the Sabine River. They are not sure if they will be able to pay our $600 fee. A group of our members will go to the grounds and check out the area to see if it is suitable for a pull.

February 6, 2023 Minutes
President Hatton called the meeting to order at 7 PM with 16 in attendance. Our health concerns are: Roy Wisdom has hurt his back and Ron Davis said he is cancer free but still battling the effects of radiation. Gordon McCosh gave the opening prayer. Minutes from December were distributed to those present and approved as written. The treasurer’s report was given by Don Hatton since Brenda Wisdom was unable to attend. This report was also approved. Dues for the year can be paid tonight.
The 2023 tractor pull season has begun with the pull at Glenn Rose over the past weekend. There were 271 hooks and pulling lasted until after midnight on Sunday morning.
Don Hatton gave an update on our Scholarship Application form. It has been suggested that we stress that the application will not be considered if it is incomplete. We need to add TSI scores along with ACT and SAT scores. We also want to allow applicants to submit a maximum of three pictures of themselves, FFA projects, community participation, etc. Ron Davis made the motion to make these changes on the application. A second was made to this motion and it was approved by the group. Don will send the requested changes to Bruce Burnham to make on the online application. We also discussed the number of scholarships we would give this year. Ron Davis made the motion to give four
$500 scholarships. Sally Smith made the second and the motion passed.
Don told us that Carrie Jo Parmley will retire at the end of this year as the secretary of EDGETA. Anyone interested in filling this position can contact EDGETA.
The Canton Show and Swap Meet will be held on April 7 and 8. There will be one free spot for the club to use to sell mugs, T Shirts, etc. Any member who wants to sell tractors, parts, etc. will have to pay $30. Don will reserve spots in the pavilion for our members who want one.

DECEMBER 5, 2022 MINUTES
President, Don Hatton, called the meeting to order at 6:57 with nineteen in attendance. The health concern mentioned was Patsy Hatton, who has a viral infection. The opening prayer was given by Joe Bob Busby. Copies of the October minutes were passed out and approved as written. Copies of the financial report were distributed and accepted as presented.
President Hatton told us that 2022 was a productive year for us even though we had some obstacles that came up. The pull in Bonham had a light turn out – around thirteen tractors. The track was shared by the lawnmowers. We have been invited to return next year. The Golden Pull had 24 to 26 tractors. There was a heavy spectator turnout. There was a problem with parking the trucks and trailers. There is an open field which is available for parking that we may use next year.
It has been suggested that we make some changes to our online scholarship application. The Scholarship Committee will meet and decide on what changes need to be made.

We are still waiting to hear from Greenville. They keep saying that they are going to build a track but have not done this as of yet. We also have not heard from Golden concerning next year’s pull.
It was suggested that we form a group to help with pulls so all of the jobs would be covered. No action was taken. Nelda McMillan volunteered to help with tractor registration at our pulls.
The hat was passed in order to allow members to contribute to a local charity for Christmas. We collected $166. The club will contribute to make the amount $250. It was decided that the money would go to the East Texas Food Bank.
An attempt to elect new officers was made but no one would volunteer to hold an office. The officers for 2023 are as follows:

AUGUST 1, 2022 MINUTES
President Don Hatton called the meeting to order at 6:55 with twenty two in attendance. Health concerns brought before the group were: Lacy LaForce had leg surgery and is doing well and Pasty Hatton is still having thyroid problems. The opening prayer was given by Lois Triebenbach. Minutes from June were passed out to members and approved as written. The financial report was distributed and approved as written.
1. The Terrell pull went well. Lawnmowers pulled first followed by tractors. There were 51 tractors registered and 110 hooks. The attendance was down probably because of the heat and high fuel prices.
2. Winnsboro only had the date of October 8 available for a pull. We already have a pull scheduled for that date at Bonham. Maybe in the future we may be able to return to Winnsboro.
3. Point is excited to have us put on a pull there. They are going to build us a track behind the old Cotton Gin off of highway 69. They will provide a fire truck, pull back tractor, a track upkeep tractor, two food venders, and a snow cone vender. A private sponsor will pay us $600. There is no electricity on site but Steve Williams will bring his generator. Point will also provide portapotties or open up the restrooms at the Cotton Gin. The date of the pull is September 24. Point may become our home base in the future. Point is also going to provide the King of the Hill trophies.
4. A new business, Cowboy Headquarters, is opening in Athens. They want to have a large tractor show for their grand opening. No date has been determined for this event, but we will be notified as soon as it is determined. They will also give tractor people a 10 to 15% discount at the show.
5. The City of Athens and the Masonic Lodge have asked us to participate in a show at the May 26 and 27 Old Fiddlers’ Reunion in 2023. It will be a show for tractors, old cars and race cars. They will provide us with a meal ticket for lunch.
6. The City of Mabank is looking at having a tractor pull. They are going to have the TTTPA (Big Boys) sled. Don is trying to keep in touch with them so we might keep our foot in the door for a future pull.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:25.

Sally Smith
